P&F Chart

A Point and Figure chart plots rising prices as columns of X's and falling prices as columns of O's and ignores time, so only meaningful price moves are shown. Enter a symbol, set the box size as a fixed amount or based on the Average True Range, and choose how many boxes make a reversal. P&F charts make support and resistance easy to see, along with classic patterns such as double tops, triple bottoms, catapults and triangle breakouts. Use the P&F screens below to find stocks with fresh Point and Figure buy and sell signals.

Point and Figure Chart FAQ

What is a Point and Figure chart?

A Point and Figure chart plots rising prices as columns of X's and falling prices as columns of O's. It ignores time and shows only price moves of at least one box, which filters out market noise.

How do I choose the box size?

Set the box size as a fixed amount or base it on the Average True Range with the ATR period you choose. A larger box filters out more noise but shows fewer columns.

What is the reversal amount?

The reversal is the number of boxes the price must move in the opposite direction to start a new column. Three boxes is the classic setting.

What are the basic Point and Figure buy and sell signals?

A buy signal occurs when a column of X's rises above the previous column of X's. A sell signal occurs when a column of O's falls below the previous column of O's.

Which patterns can I see on a Point and Figure chart?

Double and triple tops and bottoms, bullish and bearish catapults, triangle breakouts, bull and bear traps, and long tail reversals.

Why does a Point and Figure chart ignore time?

A new X or O is added only when the price moves by a full box, so quiet days add nothing to the chart and only significant moves are shown.

How do I find stocks with Point and Figure signals?

Use the Point and Figure screens to find stocks with fresh buy and sell signals, breakouts, catapults and other P&F patterns.
