Margin Expansion

India

Margin expansion means a company keeps more of each dollar of sales as profit, usually through pricing power or scale. Combined with growing revenue it makes earnings grow faster than sales. This screen lists stocks on the Bombay Stock Exchange whose latest quarterly net margin, net income divided by revenue, is at least 2 percentage points higher than in the same quarter a year earlier, while revenue grew more than 10%, with the net margins shown for both quarters. Prices are in Indian rupees, and the list covers BSE-listed stocks with at least 50 million rupees in average daily trading value.

Screening formula:
exch(bse) and type(stock) and advol(21) > 50 and revenue_qtr > 0 and revenue_qtr[4] > 0 and net_income_qtr > 0 and net_income_qtr / revenue_qtr > net_income_qtr[4] / revenue_qtr[4] + 0.02 and revenue_yoy > 10 and draw(earnrep) and sortby(revenue_yoy, desc) and show(100 * net_income_qtr / revenue_qtr as net_margin, 100 * net_income_qtr[4] / revenue_qtr[4] as net_margin_year_ago, revenue_yoy as sales_growth)
