GARP

Asia

Growth at a reasonable price (GARP) sits between growth and value investing: it looks for companies that grow faster than average without paying the high valuations of the fastest growers. Peter Lynch made the approach famous. This screen lists stocks on Asian exchanges with quarterly EPS up more than 15% year over year, five-year EPS growth above 10% a year and a P/E ratio below 25, cheapest first. Prices are in each exchange's local currency, and the list covers stocks traded in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Seoul and Jakarta with at least about US$0.7 million in average daily trading value.

Screening formula:
exch(tse,hkse,ses,krx,ise) and (type(stock) and ((exch(tse) and advol(21) > 100) or (exch(hkse) and advol(21) > 5) or (exch(ses) and advol(21) > 1) or (exch(krx) and advol(21) > 1000) or (exch(ise) and advol(21) > 10000))) and eps_qtr[4] >= 0.05 and eps_yoy > 15 and eps_5y_growth > 10 and pe > 0 and pe < 25 and draw(earnrep) and sortby(pe, asc) and show(eps_yoy as eps_growth, eps_5y_growth as eps_growth_5y, pe as pe)
