A Pennant is a short continuation pattern that follows a sharp price move, the flagpole. The price then consolidates in a small symmetrical triangle with converging trend lines and shrinking volume. The pause lets the market catch its breath, and a breakout in the direction of the flagpole often resumes the trend with a move of similar size.
