MarketInOut vs TradingView Stock Screener: Which One Should You Use?

By MarketInOut · October 30, 2026

TradingView is best known for its charts, and with more than 120 million users it is where many traders spend their day. Its stock screener has grown with it: it covers 70+ markets, refreshes every few seconds and now has an AI screener in beta. MarketInOut takes a different approach. It is built around screening and testing: you can write a screen as a formula, backtest it on a whole market over 25+ years, see what it found on any past date, and get an alert when a new stock enters it.

Here’s an honest side-by-side.

Where TradingView is better

  • Charts and community. TradingView’s interactive charts, drawing tools and library of community indicators are its core, and MarketInOut doesn’t try to match them: its charts are static images.
  • More markets in one screener. 70+ stock markets, which you can scan one at a time or all at once, plus ETF, bond and crypto screeners.
  • Fast intraday screening. Paid plans refresh results every 10 seconds and can screen on intraday timeframes, not just daily bars.
  • Alert delivery. Alerts can go to the mobile app, email, SMS or a webhook for your own scripts.

Where MarketInOut is better

1. Backtest the screen itself

On TradingView, each Pine Script strategy runs on one symbol at a time. To find out whether a screen works across 500 stocks, you test them one by one and combine the reports yourself. MarketInOut’s strategy backtester takes a saved screen or formula as the entry and exit rules and runs it on a watchlist or a whole market over 25+ years, with stop loss, take profit, trailing stops, commissions, spread and a benchmark. Delisted stocks stay in the data, so results aren’t flattered by survivorship bias. For examples, see our Trend Template backtest across 14 stock universes and our golden cross backtest.

2. See what a screen found in the past

Historical screening runs any screen on a past date, so you can see which stocks it picked before a rally or a selloff, without waiting months to find out whether it works.

3. Alerts when a new stock enters a screen

Save a screen and turn on alerts, and you get an email, SMS or Telegram message when a new stock matches. TradingView has no alerts on screens: you would copy the results to a watchlist and set alerts on those symbols, and watchlist alerts are only on the Premium and Ultimate plans.

4. Formulas without programming

TradingView’s filter menu covers the usual conditions, and for anything else the Pine Screener runs one Pine Script indicator per scan. MarketInOut’s formula screener puts the whole idea in one line, across timeframes:

exch(nyse,nasdaq) and type(stock) and price > 1 and advol(21) > 1
and (rsi(20) > 50)@months and (price > ema(20))@weeks and price ca sma(7)

That finds liquid US stocks with a monthly RSI(20) above 50 and a weekly close above the 20-week EMA, where the daily price has just crossed above its 7-day average. The same formula works as a backtest rule and as an alert.

5. AI that writes a screen you can test

Both now have AI screeners. TradingView’s turns a request into filters and sorting for the stock screener, within a monthly allowance on paid plans. MarketInOut’s AI screener turns a description into a formula you can read, edit, backtest and set alerts on, so the idea doesn’t stop at a list of tickers.

6. Ready-made strategies for every market

210 preset screens show their formulas and run on every featured market they support, so the Minervini Trend Template works on European stocks or crypto exactly as it does on US ones.

7. No subscription

Pro has no limits and is a one-time payment for 6 months, 1 year or 2 years. It doesn’t renew automatically, and your saved screens are kept if you let it lapse.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose TradingView if charts are the center of your trading, you want the widest market coverage, or you screen intraday in markets outside the US.
  • Choose MarketInOut if you want to test a screen before you trade it, get alerts when new stocks match, or build screens as formulas for US and global stocks, forex and crypto.

Many traders use both: TradingView for charting, MarketInOut for building, testing and monitoring screens.
